A DAY OUT IN ROTTERDAM

For a day out in Rotterdam, Zuidyard on the Maashaven has everything on one site: the Beelen Eye Ferris wheel, Noah’s Ark, play and climbing, and food and drink at PIER40. You park once, or arrive by metro or water taxi, and walk from one thing to the next for the rest of the day.

Zuidyard is for anyone who wants a day out in the city: couples, groups of friends, tourists and families. Below you can read what there is to do on the site, followed by a way to plan your day. Each attraction has its own ticket, so you choose what to combine.

Views · 57 metres

Rotterdam from above in the Beelen Eye

The Beelen Eye is a 57-metre Ferris wheel on the Maashaven. From the enclosed panoramic cabins you look out over the whole city: the Erasmus Bridge, the Euromast across the river Maas, the towers of the city centre and, right below you, the harbour with its cranes, quays and the metro bridge. It is a good way to start the day, because you see straight away where you are.

A ticket costs €10 per person, online or on site at PIER40, which is also where the Beelen Eye entrance is. The wheel is suitable for all ages and accessible for people with disabilities. It may close temporarily in strong wind, so check beeleneye.nl before you set off.

Museum · 70-metre ship

Aboard Noah’s Ark

Noah’s Ark is a museum and experience aboard the Ark of Noah: a 70-metre wooden ship with four decks, moored at Zuidyard. On board you walk through the story of Noah and the animals. Children set off with a treasure hunt and an information folder, so it works for the whole family too.

Allow about an hour and a half. A ticket costs €2 per person and afterwards also works as a €2 voucher at PIER40, directly opposite the Ark. Please note: the Ark is not wheelchair accessible.

Play & climbing

Spelen bij Beelen and Gigi’s Klim World

If you are with children, the day often starts at Spelen bij Beelen, the play harbour for children aged 0 to 12. There is a playground with a large sandpit, Verkeersstad Harvey, a roller rink and trampolines, and for the youngest a small traffic park for ages 0 to 4. A ticket costs €10 per person, babies up to 1 go free and there are no time slots.

Next to the playground is Gigi’s Klim World, an indoor climbing park with walls, nets and obstacles. Climbing is from 130 cm and works with time slots. The €25 ticket also includes Spelen bij Beelen, so older children can carry on playing after their climb.

Food & drink

Lunch, drinks or dinner at PIER40

PIER40 is Zuidyard’s restaurant and bar, right on the water and opposite Noah’s Ark. Come for coffee, lunch, drinks or dinner, with the whole family or with friends. PIER40 is open Tuesday to Saturday from 11:00 to 20:00 and on Sunday from 13:00 to 20:00; to book a table, email info@pier40.nl.

Good to know: bringing your own food and drink is not allowed at the Zuidyard attractions, except for medical reasons or specific needs. You can buy food and drinks on site at PIER40 and at Spelen bij Beelen.

Coming soon

Sail with ZUIDYARD Cruise from November 2026

From November 2026, ZUIDYARD Cruise sails from Zuidyard on the Doklaan. A boat tour takes about 75 minutes and shows you the city, the harbour and the skyline from the water, so you can then start or end your day out on the river Maas. Tickets are already on presale at zuidyardcruise.nl.

And there is more to come. R’DAM LOOKOUT, a swing on the eighth floor with views over Rotterdam and the harbour, opens in March 2027; a ticket costs €10 per person. Miniworld Rotterdam is moving to Zuidyard. Until then you visit the miniature world at Weena 745 in Rotterdam.

Plan your day

A day at Zuidyard, from 11:00 to 20:00

A way to plan the day that fits the opening hours. On Sunday everything opens at 13:00, so you start a little later.

  1. Start with the view or with play

Spelen bij Beelen, the Beelen Eye and Noah’s Ark open at 11:00 from Tuesday to Saturday and at 13:00 on Sunday. With children you start at the playground; as a couple or with friends, a ride in the Beelen Eye is a good start.

  2. Lunch, then the Ark

Have lunch at PIER40 and then cross over to Noah’s Ark, directly opposite. Allow about an hour and a half in the Ark. Your €2 ticket gets you €2 off at PIER40 later.

  3. Climb on the right day

Gigi’s Klim World is open on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday from 13:00 to 17:00 and on Saturday from 11:00 to 17:00. If you want to climb, pick one of those days and book a time slot online in advance.

  4. End the day by the water

Spelen bij Beelen, the Beelen Eye and Noah’s Ark close at 18:00, PIER40 not until 20:00. That leaves time to end the day with drinks or dinner by the water.

Current opening hours and tickets for each attraction are on Plan your visit and on the attractions’ own websites.

Frequently asked questions

A day out in Rotterdam at Zuidyard: the key questions and answers.

What can you do in Rotterdam in one day?
At Zuidyard on the Maashaven in Rotterdam-Zuid you can combine, on one site, the 57-metre Beelen Eye Ferris wheel (€10), Noah’s Ark, a 70-metre wooden ship (€2), and lunch, drinks or dinner at PIER40. With children you add Spelen bij Beelen (ages 0 to 12, €10) and the Gigi’s Klim World indoor climbing park (from 130 cm, €25). From November 2026, ZUIDYARD Cruise also sails from the site.
Is Zuidyard a day out without kids too?
Yes. For couples, friends and tourists, the Beelen Eye, Noah’s Ark and PIER40 are the main reasons to come: views over the city and the harbour, a museum in a wooden ship and a restaurant by the water. From November 2026 you can add a boat tour of about 75 minutes with ZUIDYARD Cruise.
Do I need one ticket for everything?
No. Each attraction has its own ticket. Only the Gigi’s Klim World ticket also includes entry to Spelen bij Beelen. The Noah’s Ark ticket also works as a €2 voucher at PIER40.
Which days are best to visit?
Spelen bij Beelen, the Beelen Eye, Noah’s Ark and PIER40 are open Tuesday to Sunday; in the school holidays Spelen bij Beelen is open seven days a week. Gigi’s Klim World is open on Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. If you want to do everything, choose one of those four days.
